Dry Needling
Deep Relief Where Other Treatments Can't Reach
Expert trigger point dry needling delivered to your home in Utah Valley — specialized in pelvic floor conditions, postpartum recovery, and chronic muscle tension.
What Is Dry Needling?
Targeted Treatment for Deep Muscle Tension
Dry needling uses thin, solid needles to release trigger points—tight knots in muscles that cause pain, restrict movement, and refer symptoms to other areas of the body. When the needle reaches a trigger point, the muscle briefly twitches and then releases, restoring normal function and reducing pain.
This is not acupuncture. While both use thin needles, they are completely different treatments. Acupuncture follows traditional Chinese medicine meridians. Dry needling is based on modern neuroscience—Dr. Danaya uses anatomical landmarks and hands-on assessment to find exactly where your muscles are tight or dysfunctional, then targets those specific points.
Why Pelvic Floor Dry Needling Is Different
Most physical therapists offer dry needling for shoulders, backs, and necks. Very few are trained to treat the pelvic floor and surrounding muscles with this technique. Dr. Danaya holds three levels of dry needling certification—including specialized training in dry needling for pelvic pain. This means she can reach deep muscle tension that manual therapy alone cannot address, in areas most providers are not qualified to treat.
That said, she treats the full body. Hips, back, calves, shoulders, neck—any muscle contributing to your symptoms. Many patients come in for general musculoskeletal dry needling alongside or completely separate from pelvic floor care.
What Dry Needling Treats
Conditions That Respond to Dry Needling
Pelvic Floor Muscle Spasm
Chronic tightness and trigger points in the pelvic floor muscles that cause pain, pressure, or a constant feeling of tension. Dry needling can reset overactive muscles and break pain-tension cycles.
Learn about pelvic floor spasm treatment →Postpartum Muscle Tension
Tight, stiff muscles from pregnancy and delivery—in the pelvic floor, abdomen, hips, and back. Dry needling releases deep tension that stretching alone cannot reach.
Learn about postpartum recovery →C-Section Scar Tissue
Scar adhesions and surrounding muscle tension after cesarean delivery. Dry needling to the scar and nearby muscles helps restore mobility and reduce pain.
Learn about C-section recovery →Chronic Pelvic Pain & Endometriosis
Deep pelvic pain driven by muscle guarding, oblique trigger points, and pelvic floor tension. Dry needling reaches layers that hands-on manual therapy cannot always access.
Learn about pelvic pain treatment →Hip & Back Pain
Tight hip flexors, piriformis tension, lower back trigger points, and SI joint pain. These muscles often contribute to or overlap with pelvic floor dysfunction.
Learn about hip & back pain treatment →Sports Injuries & Muscle Tension
Calf strains, shoulder tension, neck tightness, and residual effects from ankle sprains or overuse injuries. Dr. Danaya treats the full body—not just pelvic conditions.

Your Session
How a Dry Needling Session Works
Your first dry needling visit is a dedicated 45-minute evaluation. Dr. Danaya assesses which muscles are contributing to your symptoms, identifies trigger points through hands-on palpation, and develops a treatment plan. You will receive dry needling treatment during this first visit.
Follow-up sessions are 30 minutes and focus on treatment. Dr. Danaya reassesses your progress, adjusts the plan, and targets the areas that need the most attention.
What to Expect During Treatment
When the needle reaches a trigger point, you may feel a brief twitch or cramping sensation—this is the muscle releasing. Most patients find this tolerable, and many describe immediate relief in the area afterward. Some soreness for 24–48 hours after treatment is normal, similar to post-workout soreness.
Dr. Danaya explains everything before and during treatment. You are always in control, and she adjusts her approach based on your comfort level.
Treatment Comes to You
Dr. Danaya brings all equipment to your home—no need to drive to a clinic. This is especially convenient for postpartum patients, anyone managing pain, or patients who simply prefer care in their own space.

Patient Stories
What Patients Say
“I am 5 months postpartum and I am so thankful I found Radiant. It was a full 60 minute, one on one session. She was so thorough and focused on me and my healing, that the hour flew by. The dry needling has been extremely effective and my muscles no longer feel stiff and in pain. Dr. Danaya made me feel comfortable, at ease, and explained everything she was doing step by step. Most importantly, she made me feel deserving of treatment.”
— Angela G. — Postpartum Dry Needling
“Dr Danaya is an excellent resource for some quick relief in the form of dry needling, but also long term fixes. I sprained my ankle a little over a year ago. This put a lot of strain on my calves as they compensated for the injury. Dr Danaya needled my calves which relieved the tension and gave me ankle specific mobility exercises as well as strengthening drills. There’s almost no residual effects from the sprain and I 100% attribute that to the support I received.”

Common Questions
Dry Needling FAQ
Does dry needling hurt?
Most patients feel a brief cramping or twitch sensation when the needle reaches a trigger point—this is actually a good sign that the muscle is releasing. The needles are much thinner than injection needles, and most patients tolerate the treatment very well. Some soreness afterward is normal and typically resolves within 24–48 hours.
Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?
No. While both use thin needles, they are completely different treatments. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine and targets energy meridians. Dry needling is based on modern neuroscience and targets specific muscle trigger points to release tension and reduce pain.
How many sessions will I need?
Most patients notice significant improvement within 2–4 sessions. Some conditions respond after just one session. Dr. Danaya will give you a realistic timeline during your initial evaluation based on what she finds.
Can dry needling help with pelvic floor issues?
Yes—and this is one of Dr. Danaya’s specializations. She holds advanced dry needling certifications specifically for pelvic pain. Pelvic floor muscles can develop trigger points just like any other muscle, and dry needling can release deep tension that manual therapy alone cannot reach.
Do you only treat pelvic conditions with dry needling?
No. While pelvic floor dry needling is a specialty, Dr. Danaya treats the full body—hips, back, calves, shoulders, neck, and any muscle contributing to your symptoms. Many patients come in for general musculoskeletal dry needling alongside or separate from pelvic floor care.
Is dry needling covered by insurance?
Most insurance plans do not cover dry needling, which is one reason many patients at traditional clinics miss out on this effective treatment. As a cash-based practice, Dr. Danaya can provide dry needling without insurance restrictions. HSA and FSA funds can be used, and we provide superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
